Gyeonggi Children’s Museum
My Awesome Grandparents
- To endeavor to find out solutions for social issues about cultural diversity in Korea, where rapid transition to the aged society is being made, by holding a generation-integrating exhibit, which can alleviate conflicts of generations and promote harmony in community.
- To remind the roles of grandparents and the elderly in society, and providing the opportunity to appreciate them as roots of families, mediator between past and present, and sources of the wisdom, in the situation, where increased double-income families and proliferation of nuclear families are weakening solidarities of families.
- To encourage grandparents-children collaborative activities, and to set the opportunity to seek for respectful and peaceful coexistence among generations.
The exhibit is designed to address the process, in which children can open their mind toward ‘grandparents’ and build special companionship with them. The exhibit is composed of social relationship skills, which are observation, interest, understanding, sympathy, interaction, cooperation, while focusing on the relation between ‘grandparents and me.’
