A greeting from the K. J . Luke Foundation
Aloha!
Congratulations on selecting Hawaii as the site of the 2016 Asia Pacific Children’s Museum Conference.
We in Hawaii consider our islands a “special place”, more than just a great location for a meeting. Geographer-Philosopher Yi-fu Tuan, suggested that “place incorporates the experiences and aspirations of a people”. As Professor Roger Ames puts it, “Places emerge through layering of relationships and experiences creating significant collaborative experience.”
As you collaborate in our special place, we would like to thank you for all that you do in helping the young people of the world with their early education in developing the diverse experiences of our many cultures through relationships and exchanges which will prepare them to be able to make a difference as they become leaders in our global society.
